Landscapin’

Before the 3 weeks of rain that has been falling on New England, we did a little landscaping one Saturday.  We’ve been in our house for over 18 months and it was finally time to remove the “peninsula” garden from our back yard. It’s a beautiful garden, but JD loved to run through the garden bed…the flowers were not liking it!  We decided to move the garden to the front yard, side yard,  or anywhere else we could find a hole to open up more play space.
Here is the peninsula before we dug it up.  We scored a Step 2 swing set (on the left) for $30 and we really needed more space to set it up!  That playhouse on the right we picked up last summer at a yard sale for $15!
Here I am digging up the front yard, making space for the new/ used plants.  I seeded this spot last spring and grass never grew, so I thought some flowers might do better!
The After

We accomplished this whole project in one day, which is unheard of with a toddler!  Luckily, JD had 2 awesome naps that day and we got about 4 hours of “freetime” to finish the project!  Total cost:  $25 for 20 cu ft of mulch we scored at Lowes.  Rock edging, plants, and labor= Free.
Once we seed the old peninsula hole, we’ll post some after pictures of the back yard.  Hopefully we can get that done this Sunday!  Anyone else going to tackle a landscaping project this weekend?
